Let me start by saying that I own this author's previous 2 books and I use them more than any other cookbooks I own, and I would say she's pretty much my favorite author. So, when I saw that her newest book was going to be a detox/cleanse book, I was sooooo disappointed. I'm not into the whole detox/cleanse thing - I eat healthy every day, emphasis on the word "eat". I had no, and I mean zero, interest in a cleanse. But, prior to the release of Raw & Simple Detox, the author published a few "sneak peek" recipes, and the Amazon "look inside" feature also allowed me to see more of the book. From these previews I was able to see that there was indeed food involved! I made 3 or 4 of the advance recipes and they were really good and satisfying, so I ordered the book, still with some hesitation.Yadda, yadda, yadda - The book is amazing!!!I have been making the recipes and doing a slightly modified version of the lower-sugar "light" cleanse for about 2+ weeks, and I must say I feel the best I've felt in a long time. I've been an ovo-vegetarian since birth (no meat, fish, poultry, or dairy - the only animal products I consume are eggs and bee pollen/honey), so although I eat a healthy diet, I've definitely been a victim of carb-overload. Despite being an avid runner, as I've aged (44 years), I noticed that my stomach has gotten bigger and my energy has sagged (along with many other things! lol). The recipes in this book, along with the author's general program (green juice in morning, big lunch, light dinner, low glycemic) have really helped me in so many ways! My stomach is completely flat now! My energy level has returned. I sleep like a baby at night. And, most importantly, my sugar cravings have completely subsided. It was a bit of a struggle at first - the thought of having just soup for dinner scared the hell out of me. The Fennel Pea soup is very satisfying, and I am stunned that I have not needed more food at night. The coco greens smoothie for dinner didn't do it for me - just not enough bite to make me feel like I'm eating, so I've been sticking to the chunky soups and that works well (the dilly beet soup is awesome). They are all delicious and easy, by the way.As far as breakfast - I make big batches of juice 3-4 times per week (basically from whatever is fresh and priced well at supermarket), and keep them in sealed flip top bottles in the fridge. I add a little MCT oil to my juice, but frankly, it's simply not enough to hold me through a morning workout. The "Cacao Chia Silk" recipe in this book makes an absolutely perfect pre-workout breakfast. I add a little maca and chaga to the recipe, so it's basically a superfood pudding/coffee replacement. It's very light in my stomach, yet it holds me until lunch. When it's really cold (I live in Connecticut), I've been having the berry muesli with hot water (I also add a little psyllium husk to make it a perfect oatmeal replacement). For lunch - I really do feast. My favorites have been the rustic raw lasagna, the ginger miso rolls (I didn't bother with the rolls, just made them a giant salad), sweet and spicy kelp noodles (served this to lunch guests who loved it!), Romaine fresco tacos (OMG!!!!!). Her salad dressings are superb, so many times, I just make a giant vegetarian bowl with whatever is in the fridge, and top it with her salad dressings. The hemp ranch is a must-try, as is the orange tahini. For Treats/Misc - My favorites have been the Adrenal Elixir (you must try this!!!), the chocolate almond bark is possibly the yummiest thing ever, but it's almost too easy to make, and I don't have the will power to have it in the house, so after 2 batches that lasted only about 3-4 days each, I had to stop making it. The coconut yogurt is orgasmic!!! Beet kvass is a fantastic and easy alternative to water kefir (which is a total PIA and makes me crave sugar).General Positives - I really like some of the supplement info, I'm finding that the nascent iodine and GTF chromium have really helped me in many ways. The recipes are easy and delicious. The plan is flexible - it's really just a guide for your own experimentation to figure out what works best for you. Shockingly, my endurance as a runner has actually improved by eating this way! As always, the book is wonderfully designed, well photographed, easy to read, with top-notch food styling.General Negatives - Several typos (the recipe for pickled cabbage is missing the cabbage!), and often the grams to volume conversions are way off, so use common sense and pay attention if you tend to cook with grams. I pee a lot on this cleanse (I know, TMI, but the foods are mostly diuretics, so be prepared!). In the beginning I was very cold, but I did calorie counts and I'm certainly getting enough calories, so I think it's my body possibly burning fat for fuel instead of the tons of carbs I usually feed it. She includes a recipe for salmon so "protein types" will have a little something extra, but there's no reasoning as to why eggs aren't also included. Full disclosure - I've eaten 1-2 local eggs from happy chickens every day on my light version of the cleanse.Overall - I'm just thrilled. I really continue to love this author's food. As an FYI - she's one of the only author's with recipes primarily consisting of fruits and vegetables, with nuts/seeds/grains all being accents to the main focus, which is the veggies. I don't mind at all that she's included cooked things and even fish. I'm happy that she's more focused on what's healthy, tasty and practical, rather than what is strictly raw or vegan. I can't wait for her next book!

Judita Wignall again delivers an excellent, well-organized and helpful book for anyone interested in a raw diet, and or a detox diet.PROS:- Lots of content on detox ideas and strategies- Meal Planning ideas and shopping lists- Yummy recipes that are simple to put together- A great balance of raw, some cooked dishes and even one salmon recipe- A great book for someone starting in raw food and needing to detox- A great detox if you like a more transitional detox as opposed to other detox's that are very harsh and shocking.CONS- A true raw foodist may have issues with the cooked recipe (I personally do not have an issue with it)- Not as many recipes as her other books- Not a 100% hypo diet (probably not the best detox diet for a quick reversing of degenerative disease)Of ALL the raw food books on the market Judita delivers great content, easy to read recipes, wonderful and yummy recipes and good raw kitchen techniques. I recommend looking at her other two books too!

Raw and Simple Detox is the 3rd book by Integrative Health Coach and raw chef, Judita Wignall. The book is 175 pages long and retails for $18.62. About the first third of the book is devoted presenting the what and how of conducting a raw detox including stocking specific health supporting foods to assist in completing this goal. This part of the book also includes information on shopping and stocking your kitchen to prepare for the detox and brief but important discussion about detox techniques. It contains a variety of different simple raw detox plans including both a low fat and a low sugar 7 day detox plan. The last two thirds of the book are beautifully illustrated health supporting recipes and build on the concepts and detox plans presented in the first part of the book. The recipes are divided into juices, smoothies, beverages, soups, salads, main dishes, treats and dips/sauces and spreads. The recipes are very simple and quite a few contain less than 7 ingredients.Overall, what I liked about Raw & Simple Detox, as I like about all of Judita's books, is that it is informative, beautifully illustrated and not overly complicated. I just finished my first read through and can't wait to try several recipes.

Fantastic book! I was looking for a way to overhaul not just my diet but my health, and this book helped me do both. The recipes are yummy, the instructions are easy to follow, and the information included in both the front and back of the books (everything from how to make nut milk to why your body needs certain nutrients) was educational without being too preachy (you guys know what I'm talking about lol!) or making me scared of anything but wheatgrass and air. Actually, air's probably bad too... ha!Anyways, I highly recommend the book, and the others she has put out, too. I'm a fan, and given that I'm both feeling better and losing weight, I can 100% say this detox works!

This book is amazing. I have always enjoyed cooking but I had never tried a raw diet for fear that it would be tasteless. I had a baby a year ago and I am cooking my way through this book to get my healthy body back on track. Let me say the recipes are absolutely delicious! the ingredient combinations are exiting and easy to put together. I highly recommend this book to new moms! Not to mention that now that you are not actually "cooking" something on a stove, you will have a lot more time in your hands for the Baby and with these wonder raw recipes you feel energized even on little sleep.

I have all the volumes in this wonderful series and this one is fantastic, especially if you love his watercolors. Since it focuses on his travels to his favorite painting locations, it's full of variations and alternative views of scenes and models we've seen before. I'm totally in awe of his ability to capture the essence of any subject. You've seen those amazing watercolors of harbors with boats and reflections, well, guess what, there's a lot more of them you've never seen. These volumes are of the highest quality and worth every penny. The authors have done justice to his legacy and I'm so glad they did.

This book is amazing! I smile every time I see it. The pictures, full color, are accurately cited and presented alongside a slew of information and context about each one. When possible, the authors traveled to the same locations and villas where Sargent painted/drew to photograph the views and buildings as they stand. It really helps to show the process Sargent went through when looking at light and the landscape. On that point, this is a book that includes whatever Sargent happened to look for at the time: there’s some still life, clothed figure studies, and lots of landscape. Great collection of beautiful plein-air work and tons of research to go alongside it. It's also (literally) huge, so make sure you have a spot to store itI included some spreads that show the various stuff in the book; research, large pieces, etc. The reproductions are all high quality; you can see subtle differences in brush strokes, colors and all that. Really happy!

Good! I have seen at least a few of the paintings in person, and I think that the book offers good reproductions. I also have to praise the organization of the content--the authors have grouped paintings of related subject matter (i.e. marine paintings, mountain landscapes, oxen, etc.), which makes it easy to bookmark and revisit certain subjects.

Sargent is one of the greats. Many color plates in this very nice book - one in a series on Sargent.Disappointed with seller as I mistakenly ordered 2 and they wouldn't let me return it.

I did not realise just what a prodigous and competent art JSF was/is. To produce eight volumes on his output, [to date,] speaks volumes for his quality. I nam impressed with the ease and quality of his watercolours so have ordered this volume. Like Turner and Constable, his "workbooks" are goldmines of an ever searching mind of his environment and travelogue of his ever roving lifestyle. It is amazing that he could find so many decorously attired young beauties lying about in the countryside? I will just dream, about them, but mainly his dexterity and feeling for expressing light and form with simple fluency. A great book for any serious painter, especially in loose flowing, sun light land and sea scapes in watercolour. His portraiture is also par excellence.

Sargent paintings...no need to say more!

A beautiful book and good descriptions

Lots of great images in this book, many of which are quick studies or unfinished works....which I love because those images reveal working methods of this utterly remarkable artist.
